Is Watermelon Fattening? Because You Need To Know Why?

Is Watermelon Fattening. Have you found yourself stuck in your chair with a plate of watermelon on the table waiting for you to eat it? Or have you experienced torn whether continuing your weight loss efforts or just forget everything and have another slice of watermelon to your tummy? Well, the good news is, you don’t have to be in that same situation anymore! We all admit loving watermelon. It's one of the mankind's favorite fruits. So why don't we put to rest the dilemma we face in the thought if watermelons can make your trip to the weighing scale terrifying or amazing.

Is Watermelon Fattening (The science behind it)?

With its juicy content, watermelons are known to be 90% water and eating a cup of it will only give you for about 45 calories. So whether if you are a calorie counter or not, overeating a whole watermelon won’t destroy any of your weight loss accomplishments.

As a matter of fact, there are quite a few facts that explain why watermelon isn’t fattening at all. Here are some:

· It is a great source of vitamin C and vitamin A that is very crucial for improving your metabolism and achieving a healthy skin too.

· It contains sugar that can be digested easily.

· Stands as a fuel to improve your body’s detoxification process when eaten during breakfast.

· Since it has more watery content, it is a low-calorie fruit and can give you more minerals than calories.

Its Calorie content

There are a lot of factors why you could gain weight. However, the most primary cause is consuming calorie more than you are allowed to eat every day. In the same reason that your body can’t burn excess calories without any intense activity.

Whether you strictly monitor your calorie intake or just want to know your recommended calories per day, I have provided here a calorie calculator to help you answer your questions.

So… going back, is watermelon fattening? Actually, it depends on how many servings you eat in a day. For your advantage, I have listed a calorie guide of watermelon for you to evaluate whether a number of slices you eat a while ago is still considered as a good calorie intake. ( see the pictures -

for a cup of watermelon with 152 grams and a whole watermelon-weighs about 4500 grams).

See the difference? The trick here is easy. If you choose to have watermelon as your meal, go with proportion sizes only to limit the total of your calories. It is always easy to just add calories than to have an excess one.

Watermelon for weight loss

Now that your question has been answered. Let us now look at the reasons on how watermelons (in small amounts) can help in improving your weight loss.

  • It is a water fruit. Do you know the trick of drinking water before eating a meal to trick your brain that you are already full of the water that you just drunk? Well, that's the point here (and it's even better). Watermelons are 90% water in content. So eating it doesn't just satisfy your hunger but as well as your thirst. And keeping yourself hydrated promotes faster metabolism that can lead to improved fat burning activities in the body, as a result, you lose weight.

  • It's sugar content. I know that this can be ironic since a lot of articles out there suggests to avoid sugary treats to improve weight loss. But the sugar in watermelons isn’t the same as the articles are talking about. Even though it is sweet, watermelon’s glycemic load is very low. It measures only 4 on the scale of 20 and only has 11 grams of carbo---hydrates per servings, thus, it won’t affect your blood sugars nor gives you any extra pounds like other sugars do.

  • It’s low in calories. As I have discussed above, a cup of watermelon only has 46 calories and the rest is water. So chewing on some watermelons will make you feel full faster without piling up your calories.

  • Have high levels of Citrulline. Watermelons can work as a diuretic that can cleanse your body. Citrulline found in watermelons can produce arginine which eliminates and detoxes our body from ammonia and other harmful toxins.

What I do… you should too.

Since you’ve already decided of permanently adding watermelon to your diet, then why don’t you try on some things that I used to make and enjoy using watermelons? These fruit preparations can give you a fun way in munching on your now favorite fruit as well as can help you to spend a fun bonding with your kids (if you have some).
